Ada Fisher Fisher, Republican    vs.   Senator Melvin Watt, Democrat
Congressional Campaign - 12th district of North Carolina  November 1, 2004
Single Candidate Statement Forum

Ada Fisher appears alone in the Single Candidate Statement Forum, as her opponent Melvin Watt has twice declined Fisher' invitation to a debate in the Print Debate Level Playing Field. Fisher first wrote a letter to Watt, inviting him to Print Debate. Watt rejected that invitation. Fisher then appeared in the Print Debate Challenge Forum, where she publicly invited Watt to debate once again. Watt also rejected that invitation. Thus, Fisher appears here in the Single Candidate Statement Forum, to address Watt's absence and take questions from the electorate.

Dr. Fisher's Statements to the Electorate

Fisher Addresses Watt's Absence

I regret that Congressman Melvin Watt the democratic incumbent in the NC 12th US Congressional seat has not chosen to honor the democratic process by discussing in The Print Debate the issues for this district and nation. The sole justification the incumbent has given for retaining his seat is based on experience. What is important is experience that matters for these times which the challenger Dr. Ada M. Fisher, MD, MPH possesses.

Why should voters vote for the Republican Candidate Dr. Ada M. Fisher?

As the NC 12th District Republican Congressional Candidate with hands-on practical experience dealing with the issues affecting our lives and communities, I want your vote. AdaforCongress.org outlines a positive message on our possibilities defining how we can maximize our potential through developing new financial resources in a jobs race, efficiencies in government through performance evaluations on existing and proposed programs, and returning the federal government to its core responsibilities while returning to states responsibilities and shared resources to do their work.

The 12th District is the financial epicenter of the southeast. New jobs in alternative energy, sustainability, historic restoration, and infrastructure supports will not only increase our own manufacturing capabilities, but will remain here and not sent abroad or south of the border.

My training in Homeland Security and dealing with associated terrorism concerns is the type of experience needed to help the federal government deal with its national defense responsibilities and the need to support our military industries in this state.

AdaforCongress.org addresses seven elements of our existing health care crisis. My practice serving or supervising the care for over 100,000 patients points vividly to health care reform, which addresses malpractice, protecting patient's rights, compensation for injuries, and preventing the loss of professionals in high risk specialties. We must deal with health care, now emerging as the 12th District's largest employer, without instituting socialized medicine which will limit access, research and innovations in associated fields like the biomedical/technological industries.

I'm high on the 12th district and state, for I too believe that our best is yet to come.
